Description

10-String Lyre Harp by Muzikkon – Solid Wood Classical Instrument

Muzikkon proudly presents this beautifully crafted 10-String Lyre Harp, designed for both musical performance and visual elegance. Handcrafted with a solid wood body, this lyre harp features soft, graceful curves that enhance both comfort and aesthetics.

The harp is fitted with ten high-quality metal strings that deliver a warm, classical tone. Its sound is enriched by a solid spruce soundboard, known for excellent resonance and tonal clarity.

How to Play the Lyre Harp

  • Hold the harp upright on your lap or while standing and pluck the strings from both sides

  • Lay it flat on a surface and pluck the strings comfortably

This versatile playing style makes it suitable for beginners and experienced musicians alike.

History & Musical Heritage

The lyre harp has deep historical roots dating back to the early Middle Ages in Eastern Europe, where it emerged as a Jewish folk instrument. Traditionally played by Jewish troubadours known as Klezmorim, it was commonly used at weddings and celebratory gatherings.

Over time, Klezmer music blended with Slavonic, Greek, Turkish, Gypsy, and even American jazz influences, creating a rich and expressive musical tradition.

Tuning & Musical Modes

For authentic Klezmer music, try the Misheberakh mode:

E – F# – G – A# – B – C# – D – E – F# – G

The traditional Chazzanut tuning mode (from bass to treble) is:

D – E – F – G# – A – B – C – D – E – F

Alternative tunings suitable for singers comfortable in the Key of G include (from bass to treble):

  • E – F# – G – A – B – C – D – E – F# – G

  • D – E – F# – G – A – B – C – D – E – F# (E is the tonic)
